What's good about owning a grill is that you can take your own spin on an ordinary kitchen dish and add a delicious smoky flavor to it. Sandwiches are not an exception – even the usual peanut butter and jelly sandwich can become extra fulfilling when made using your grill. So whether you're craving a light sandwich for a snack or one that you can eat for dinner, make them extra special with your grill!

Here are 3 summer sandwich recipes you surely won't be able to resist:

1. Cheese and Pesto Grilled Sandwich

What you need:

  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 slice provolone cheese
  • 2 slices red tomato
  • 1 tablespoon prepared pesto sauce
  • 1 tablespoon softened butter
  • 2 slices Italian bread

Spread butter onto one side of the first bread slice and heat it on a pre-heated grill, buttered side down over medium low heat. Spread half of the pesto sauce on top of the bread slice then layer American cheese slice, tomato slices and provolone cheese slice. Spread the remaining pesto sauce on one side of the second slice of bread and place it pesto-side down onto the sandwich. Spread butter on top of the bread slice. Flip once and grill for 3-5 minutes until cheese has melted and bread is golden brown.

2. Grilled Maple Turkey and Bacon Sandwich

What you need:

  • 3 strips bacon, cooked
  • 1/2 cup deli style maple turkey, cooked
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 2 slices black raisin bread

Butter one side of one bread slice then layer with 2 slices of Swiss cheese, maple turkey and bacon strips. Drizzle with honey mustard then add the remaining slices of Swiss cheese. Spread one side of the other bread slice with butter and place it butter-side down onto the sandwich. Spread the outer sides of both slices with remaining butter then cut sandwich in half. Using a grill pan, cook in a pre-heated grill over medium heat for 4-5 minutes or when cheese starts to melt.
