Ingredients

  • 2-4 Eggs
  • 4 Slice of Bread Cut in form of Cones
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 Onions (2 of them Finely Chopped and another 2 cut into circular rings)
  • 4 Red Chili (2 of them finely chopped)
  • 4 Green Chili ( 2 of them finely chopped)
  • 4 cups of Mustard Oil.

Method

Make a batter of the 2-4 eggs in a bowl along with salt to taste.

Add finely chopped onions and finely chopped chilies (Green + Red).

Mix well and Dip the slices of bread cones into the mixture.

Deep fry each of the bread slices in a frying pan along with 4 cups of Mustard Oil

Garnish with rest of the Green and Red Chilies along with Circular Onion Rings.

Dim Cheese Recipe

This is western preparation that has travelled all the way from Europe to India. Egg in Bengali is called Dim. So it’s actually a preparation of Egg with cheese all made in a new and unique way. With lots of proteins and vitamins this dish can be served as snacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 boiled Eggs
  • 1 small bowl of grated Cheese
  • Tomato Ketchup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red Chili Powder
  • Corn Flour
  • 3-4 teaspoon of coriander Leaves
  • Milk

Method

  1. In a bowl, smash the eggs and mix it with cheese along with a pinch of salt and red chili powder.
  2. Add the coriander leaves, 5-6 drops of milk and 2 teaspoon of corn flour
  3. Mix the mixture well and once it forms like dough, make it into small round balls.
  4. In another small bowl mix 2-3 teaspoon corn flour and 2-3 tablespoon of milk.
  5. Dip the rounded balls into the mixture of corn flour and milk. There should be a layer of corn flour and milk over the balls. So the mixture should be thick. If it is not thick add in proportionate quantities of milk and flour to make it thick.
  6. Do this for all the rounded balls.
  7. In a frying pan deep fry them with Sunflower oil.
  8. Once its fried serve hot along with tomato ketchup.

Dim Posto Recipe

With time traditional Bengali recipes have been modified too. Dim Posto is one such unique example of modern yet maintaining the traditional taste of Bengal. Dim Posto can be served with main course or puffed fried flour bread.

Ingredients

  • 4 boiled eggs
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Cashews
  • Raisin
  • 2 Finely Chopped Tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder
  • 1-2 Onions
  • Few cloves of Garlic
  • 2-3 Green Chilies
  • 2 tablespoon of Poppy Seeds
  • 4-5 tablespoon of Mustard Oil

Method

1. Paste few cashews, onions, garlic, green chilies, 1½ cup of water along with poppy seeds and keep the mixture aside in a small bowl.

2. Deep fry the boiled egg with a layer of Turmeric Powder in a frying pan with 4-5 tablespoon of Mustard Oil.

3. Once the eggs get fried keep it aside in a separate dish.

4. Add Tomatoes and Salt to taste into the frying pan.

5. Then add the paste.

6. Once the oil starts to come out from the mixture/paste, add the fried eggs that were kept aside.

7. Mix the mixture and the tomatoes until it forms a thick curry

8. Add the fried eggs and again mix them well.

9. Garnish it with Coriander Leaves and raisins

10. Serve hot
