Hunan style cumin beef [孜然牛肉] is something i enjoy making particularly during cold winters. Its a delicious dish that warms you up. I know Hunan style cumin is very SPICY! I don’t do too well with very spicy things Q.Q. Please feel free to add as more or less chilli based on your preference ^.^

-500grams rump steak (can use any type of steak)
-2 tsp crushed cumin/powder
-1 1/2 tsp dark soy sauce (darker and thicker consistency to light
ss. It also has a stronger soy taste and is not as salty.
-1 1/2 tsp light soy sauce
-1 Tbs shaoxing wine
-1 tsp sugar
-1 Tbs oyster sauce
-1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda (breaks down protein/meat
-1 Tbs potato or cornstarch
Cooking- After marination
– ***chopped half of a red capsicum/pepper. I forgot to purchase some. SORRY! Add it with the chopped white onions if you wish to. The capsicum gives colour and adds a subtle sweet taste to the dish. It still tastes great without it so don’t stress.
-1 large white onion
-2 chopped red chillies. You can however many and types of chillies you want depending how SPICY you like it!
-2 cloves garlic
-1/3 cup peanut oil. Other oil can be used if you prefer others
-1 tsp crushed cumin/powder
OPTIONAL- cumin seeds for enhanced aroma and flavour
